In 2007, the Little Miss Point Mallard competition was added for young girls ages 6 to 11.  Along with winning cash, crown, and flowers, the winner makes several stage appearances with Miss Point Mallard and rides in the Christmas parade with her.

Announcing the second-ever Miss Teen Point Mallard Pageant, a preliminary to Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageants, Thursday, July 3, 7 p.m. and the 40th annual Miss Point Mallard Pageant, Friday, July 4, 8 p.m. (one-night only this year). As a preliminary for the Miss America Pageant, the Miss Point Mallard Pageant provides thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes while recognizing Alabama’s brightest and most talented young women.  Many previous Miss Point Mallard’s have gone on to become Miss Alabama and Miss America.  Teresa Cheatham Strickland and Kim Wimmer won Miss Alabama Crowns while reigning as Miss Point Mallard.  Miss America 1995 Heather Whitestone, Miss Alabama 2004 Shannon Camper and Miss Alabama 2007 Jamie Langley won it after their year of service to Decatur.
